The Often-Untold Male Perspective – His Uplifting Message to Encourage Others

As part of an initiative to pollinate positivity, we recently asked RADfertility patients to write anonymous messages for those still on their journey to parenthood. Below is one of the most uplifting and encouraging notes we received, written from the often-untold male perspective.

Hello friend,

You don’t know me, but my wife and I have walked in similar steps to where you might be walking today. We attempted for years to become parents, and month after month, year after year, our dreams never came to be. We had tear-filled “what if” conversations and we felt the stabbing pain when loved ones would ask us over and over again about “starting a family.” We explored foster care and adoption possibilities, and we were prepared to move forward on this path. We remained open to one another throughout the journey, because it was our love for one another that was propelling us to welcome a child into our life.

We both went through testing and we discovered that I experience male infertility. The weight of guilt fell heavy upon my shoulders—I felt responsible for the fact we couldn’t get pregnant. My wife shot me back to reality and kept us moving forward. We could tackle this together. The moment that changed everything for us was our first consultation with RADfertility.

Throughout our journey, the family at RADfertility walked with us, step-by-step. They became companions in the journey, encouraging us to stay the course and always gave us the best advice that the latest research and practice had to offer. We became part of their family, and in doing so, they helped us to grow our family. With RADfertility’s care and support, we welcomed our son into the world in May 2019. We will always be indebted to the amazing team at RADfertility.

I hope you read this quick note and find some encouragement. We know that there will be days when it seems as if it’s all too much to handle—when giving up seems reasonable and so much easier. We’ve been there. I hope that our story inspires you to continue on the journey. As we watch our little guy thrive and reflect on how much the journey brought us closer together, we know it was all worth it.
