Basic Infertility Treatments

An infertility diagnosis does not necessarily mean a patient will need IVF treatment. Patients having difficulty conceiving on their own often find success at RADfertility with one of our basic infertility treatments.

What Basic Infertility Treatments Does RADfertility Offer?

RADfertility’s team of fertility experts always perform a detailed workup for every patient to determine the best first course of treatment. Many patients are happy to learn that they do not need to move immediately towards an advanced procedure such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), and that ‘low tech’ infertility treatment options are lower cost and require less medication. These basic infertility treatments include:

  • Timed Intercourse
  • Ovulation Induction
  • Intrauterine Insemination

What Is Timed Intercourse?

Patients that seek a very mild form of infertility treatment can opt for timed intercourse, alongside help from our team of fertility experts. For patients that ovulate regularly, eggs may develop from a follicle on their own. Patients with irregular ovulation cycles may need medication to stimulate follicle development and later, ovulation. With close monitoring, intercourse can be timed to give the best possible chance of a pregnancy occurring without further intervention.

What Is Ovulation Induction (OI)?

Ovulation induction (OI) uses treatment medication (orally or injectable) to stimulate the production of one or more oocytes (eggs) which are carefully monitored via ultrasound to evaluate maturity. Ovulation induction is performed prior to an intrauterine insemination to increase the likelihood of a pregnancy. For patients undergoing more advanced treatment, OI is performed prior to an egg retrieval.

What Is Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)?

During an intrauterine insemination (IUI), various tests are performed to confirm ovulation, and then the most active and high quality sperm are placed inside of the uterus via a catheter. In some cases prior to an IUI, patients are placed on fertility medication and monitored to help the body ovulate multiple eggs.

Because only the most active sperm are utilized and placed directly into the uterus, IUI increases the chance of fertilization in the fallopian tubes.

Good Candidates for Intrauterine Insemination

  • Patients diagnosed with mild or moderate male factor infertility (low sperm count or low motility)
  • Patients with a cervical condition that may stop or inhibit the sperms ability to enter the uterus
  • Patients diagnosed with unexplained infertility
  • Patients with irregular ovulation cycles
  • Patients who are utilizing donor sperm

"I feel so lucky to have found RADfertility. I tried two other clinics before I expanded my search and found RADfertility. I drive an hour each way to go to them but I don’t regret a thing. They are so caring and so professional. Every time I message them they respond quickly. Every time I see them they have a friendly smile and warm welcome. They explain everything so well and I never feel lost in the process as I did elsewhere. They also took the time to figure out what was wrong. Other clinics threw up their hands, said 'I don’t know' and pushed me to try IVF."

"Dr. Feinberg and the entire staff at RADfertility are absolutely amazing. The receptionists, coordinators, nurses, and lab staff are compassionate, caring, and straight forward. I’ve had a 12-year infertility journey and I’ve tried other clinics but RADfertility was the only one I felt at ease with. They answered any questions that I had and were there any time I needed them. My coordinator, Amy, was the absolute best and always had my back. Dr. Feinberg’s dedication to his patients is incredible. You are not just a number there, you are a person with individualized needs and care."
